The
American Cancer Society (ACS) is the nationwide community-based
voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer
as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives
and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education,
advocacy and service.
Over the years, more than 3,000 athletes have participated
in endurance events as an American Cancer Society Charity
Runner. You are invited to participate in this great event
while raising funds and honoring and remembering those who
have been touched by cancer. To date, the Charity Runner program
has raised over $3 million dollars! Come be a part of Iowa's
first ever Charity Runner event!

Our members run hundreds, even thousands, of races a year.
Many are local events we've continued to run year after year
because we like the course, it's a great race, or as needed
incentive to keep training.
But every once in awhile that running event is special: It's
in an exotic local, it's a distance you've never tried before,
the conditions were particularly harsh (or beautiful), maybe
it's one for which you trained particularly hard and you met/surpassed
your race goal (or not). It's a compelling story and Strider
members can relate - but not if they don't know about it.
Share your experience, in your own words, in Strider News.
Don't worry if you don't consider yourself a writer, we have
an excellent staff of editors who can help polish your story
for publication. Oh, and a nice picture or two of the event
helps bring your article to life.

us with your story. Pieces can be submitted via eMail

is at the discretion of the web master and the Capital Striders. |
