2010 Scholarship Winners Named

Each year, the Striders award three cross country athletes a one-time scholarship simply by completing an application and writing an essay on how running has played a role in their accomplishments. The 2010 Capital Striders Scholarship winners have been announced:

Learie Jones, Des Moines East High School Dawn Gildersleeve, North Polk High School John Freude, Des Moines Roosevelt High School

All three seniors lettered in cross country and demonstrated the highest scholastic aptitude. They were recommended by both their coach and their high school counselor.

Are you a graduating High School Senior in Polk County? Letter in Cross Country this year? Been accepted to a college or university? Then you have the opportunity to receive a $1000 scholarship from Capital Striders. Each year, the Striders award three cross country athletes a one-time scholarship simply by completing an application and writing an essay on how running has played a role in their accomplishments.
